SMETHPORT

To the east and south of Bradford in about the geographical center of McKean County is the county seat, Smethport, a Victorian gem.  The nineteenth century wealth of the region, derived from lumber, oil and natural gas, is reflected in the surprisingly abundant and lavish examples of Victorian domestic architecture found in this small community beautifully situated in the picturesque mountains of Northern Pennsylvania.

Shown Above are Some of Smethport's Victorian Homes

The influence of Stick Style architecture can be seen in a number of homes on the large lots along Route 6, Main Street, as you approach Smethport’s small commercial section.  Other influences such as Queen Anne and Italianate are evident.

ACCOMODATIONS: Blackberry Inn, Main Street, (814)887-7771.
